Phil Jewitt
Brand Manager
Leeds City Council

He joined Leeds City Council in 1987 from the oil exploration industry in the Middle East. Retraining as a graphic designer and gaining entry to the Chartered Society of Designers in 1990, he advocated good design elements, promoted in a consistent way, would help the council to present its messages more appropriately.

Becoming Senior Designer in 2003, he worked with the design team to deliver an identity refresh in 2005.

In 2007 he moved into the corporate communications team as Senior Communications Officer to move the brand and identity agenda forward. Undertaking an 18 month brand audit, he developed the council’s brand strategy, implemented in January 2009.

A member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, he is currently in the role of Brand Manager with Leeds City Council, giving focus and direction to council brand management, overseeing branding and culture workshops and coordinating plain English and effective communication programmes.
